October 5, 2007, Newsletter Issue #83: Home Insulation and Weather Stations

Tip of the Week

You are a confirmed DIY-er, and your next project is installing fiberglass insulation. Home insulation can cut down your heating and cooling bills. The hardest part of installing home insulation is knowing how much R-value (resistance to heat flow).

You forgot one home insulation installing tool: a home weather station. Home weather station readings can tell you how cool or how warm your home gets in the winter, spring, summer and fall.

Personal weather stations can even detect whether your heating and cooling system is efficient by reading the ambient temperature, so you know whether you need to adjust your A/C and heating before you install insulation.

If you don't know about personal weather stations, tackle that project before you try insulating your home!
